Front-End Developer, Javascript
Interchain is a young, ambitious, and values-led team working on the core blockchain technology of the Cosmos ecosystem and the Cosmos Hub. We’re headquartered in Berlin, Germany, but our team stretches from the west coast of the US to eastern Europe. We keep in touch through Github, Slack, Discord, and Zoom, and meet in person periodically (when COVID permits). All in all, the software we develop secures billions of dollars in value across many different systems, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We strive to build world-class software while having plenty of laughs along the way.
We’re looking for an experienced front-end engineer to build and maintain the various websites and front-end applications for Interchain and the Cosmos Network. This role will combine engineering with technical mentorship, as we’re looking to build experience inside a relatively new and growing team. We’re starting to build a lot of front-end applications that interface with Blockchains built with our cutting edge Cosmos SDK and you’d be an essential part in the early stages of this development.
Activities include:
- Building, deploying and maintaining various websites and applications under management by Interchain GmbH
- Work in cross-organizational teams on multi-chain front-end applications for the Cosmos Ecosystem
- Ensuring our web applications are responsive, performant and bug free
- Becoming a power user of CosmJS, the open source JS/TS library for the Cosmos ecosystem
- Working closely with the front-end product owner(s), UX developer and UI designer to build open source MVPs interfacing with cutting edge modules that are part of the Cosmos SDK
- Guiding junior engineers and contribute to building an experienced and happy front end team
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in full-stack and/or front-end development
- Experience building component-based applications in JS and TS using React, Vue or similar frameworks
- Deep experience with deploying applications on Digital Ocean, Vercel, Netlify, and similar platforms
- Familiarity with documentation frameworks (we are currently using vuepress but are considering moving to a different platform)
- A high degree of personal responsibility and ownership: you’ll be involved in setting your own deadlines and are responsible for holding yourself accountable to them
- A home base within our working timezones, from UTC - 5 (New York) to UTC + 3 (Moscow), and the ability to travel to continental Europe at least occasionally (post-COVID)
Ideally you’d have:
- A familiarity with blockchains and decentralised systems
- Experience working in cross-organizational teams
- Built or contributed to excellent open source applications
